ASUU declares 2 week strike against non-payment of salaries of lecturers by the government against the initial agreement
These are the lecturers not enrolled in the Federal Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.
National President of the union, Biodun Ogunyemi, who read the declaration after the ASUU National Executive Council meeting held in Enugu, said the warning strike takes effect today, March 9.
According to him, the strike action was to compel FG to implement the agreement and resolution of Memorandum of Action it had with the union from 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2019.
This means that all academic activities which are under ASUU have now been suspended until two week time
This is expected to push the federal government into taking into consideration the lecturers who are not enrolled into the Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.
The system has brought lots of disagreement between the government and the academic union
A lot of the lecturers have been against the idea of the integrated payroll system which is enforced on the Nigerian system
