Benue State governor reacts to Boko Haram attacks
Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom reacts to the attack done by Boko Haram recently on Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State.
The attack was an ambush which rendered 15 security personnel, military soldiers and policemen lifeless which was among the Governor’s convoy.
Security source around discloses by AFP on condition of anonymity discloses that eight policemen, three soldiers, and four members of a government backed up with local militia were also killed in the attack on the Governor’s convoy near the town of Baga on the shores of Lake Chad.
The terrorists opened fire with machine guns and rocket grenades launchers as the convoy was passing through a village close to the headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force.
Reacting in a comment on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Terver Akase, Samuel Ortom said that the attack was deliberately shocking and sad.
He went on to urge governor Zulum not to be deterred by the latest Boko Haram attack on him
Ortom said in quote:
“The attack on the convoy of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, in which some persons were killed is shocking and quite sad.
I deeply sympathize with Governor Zulum and families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate ambush.
I am optimistic that he will not be discouraged by the attack as he continues to support security agencies to restore peace to all parts of his state.
May God grant the souls of the gallant security men on his convoy eternal rest”.
