President Buhari reacts to death of Afenifere leader. The President narrated the death of Leader of Afenifere, Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba, Senator Ayo Fasanmi, as a big loss to Nigeria.
Senator Ayo Fasanmi died on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at night after a very brief illness in his home at Osogbo.The senator’s death was confirmed by his Personal Assistant, Tope Adebayo on Thursday morning
Buhari, in an announcement given by Femi Adesina, his spokesman avowed that Chief Fasanmi’s savvy directs borne out of modesty, profound reflection, constant examinations and experience would be painfully missed by governments at various levels, as he routinely and readily tuned in to pioneers, and consistently had an a word of wisdom on going ahead.
As an ardent follower and prodigy of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the President believed the fearless and consistent leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural and political organisation lived to serve his people and the nation, and the progressive ideals that he projected impacted greatly and provided a road map on development at state and federal levels.
Buhari noted with commendation, that the efforts of Chief Fasanmi in the founding and sustenance of Nigeria’s democracy would be remembered, and that posterity would be glad for his great sacrifices.
