Explosion rocks Beirut today leaving hundreds of people wounded in a huge blast that ripped through Lebanon’s capital, Beirut.

The powerful bomb blast on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 made rounds on several parts of Beirut, sending huge volumes of smoke into the sky in the capital
A Lebanese security source and a medical source told Reuters that at least 10 bodies have been taken to hospitals following the massive explosion in Beirut’s port area.
Some reports and witnesses said:
“I was kilometres away; the glass broke everywhere around me,” said Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr, reporting from Beirut.
“The explosion was felt across the city,” she added, “There is chaos in the streets.”
Local media showed people trapped beneath rubble of the powerful explosions which rocked Lebanon
A witness described the first explosion as deafening. Video footage showed wrecked cars and blast damaged buildings.
Witnesses reported seeing several injured people being carried to hospitals on the back of motorcycles through neighbourhoods coated in shattered glass.
It is unknown as to what caused the explosion, but initial reports suggest that the explosion took place in the capital’s port area containing warehouses.
