FG Lies Would Not End Strike
ASUU has alleged that lies and propaganda from the Federal Government of Nigeria would not force their hand into ending the strike.
Recall that the minister of labour and employment Dr Chris ngige said that the establishment has ended their six month old strike.
ASUU denied the claims and said that such lies from government officials would only serve to worsen the situation rather than bringing solution to the problems.
Academic Staff Union of Universities chairman released a statement on Sunday claiming that the Union will not suspend its strike unless they are requirements are met by the Federal government.
His statement read;
The Federal Government, through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, has criminally withheld five months check-off deducted from our members’ salaries without remittance to the union. The government has forcefully enlisted our members into the National Housing Fund scheme and has consistently been illegally deducting money for this from our members’ salaries.
Our ongoing total, comprehensive and indefinite strike action will continue if this propaganda and lies against ASUU by appointees and representatives of the Federal Government like the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, persists.
