FG postpones resumption of international flights

The Federal Government has postponed the resumption of international flights into and out of Nigeria from August 29, 2020, to September 5, 2020
Recall that Nigeria shutdown its airspace to international travel on March 23, 2020, to contain the ongoing spread of COVID-19.
The minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, had announced on August 17, 2020 that the international flights is set to resume
He said that international flights would resume on August 29, 2020 following pressures from the public for the resumption of the flights.
But at Thursday’s briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja, the Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Musa Nuhu, declared that international flights would not resume as earlier announced.
A statement by the Federal Ministry of Aviation also confirmed the development.
The statement read;
“Regret to announce that the international flight resumption earlier scheduled to resume on 29th August has been shifted to 5th September 2020.”
