Governor Ganduje lifts Kano lockdown
The Executive Governor of Kano State, Governor Ganduje lifts Kano lockdown imposed on the state as part of measures to curb the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Kano State governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has announced the ease of total lockdown in the state. While maintaining the 10pm to 4am curfew.
The removal, announced today by the Governor during the weekly Covid-19 press briefing, was due to the drastic drop of the number of cases in Kano and the progress recorded in the number of recoveries and the response against the Covid 19 disease.
Appreciating how the state is recording the success in the fight against the pandemic, he acknowledged and commended the unrelenting efforts of the frontline health workers, journalists and all other stakeholders.
“People are now free to move around for the 7 days of a week while observing the 10pm to 4pm curfew”,
Governor Ganduje further disclosed that,
“Civil servants of grade level 12 and above should resume work from Monday, 6th July. All markets are now opened. So also motor parks. People must observe the protocols of COVID-19 as enunciated by our health professionals.”
The Governor also laid emphasis on the ban of street begging, he warned that only one person is allowed on motorcycle and tricycle operators must not take more than two passengers. This order is still there for all to know.”
On the reopening of schools governor Ganduje said that,
“all schools will only be opened on the directive of the federal government. But for final year or graduating pupils/students, like primary six pupils and students of Junior Secondary School 3(JSS 3) and Senior Secondary School 3(SSS 3), we are making preparation for their returning to school.”
Ganduje however stressed that established Covid-19 protocols must be maintained including wearing of facemask, observing physical distancing and regular hand washing with soap or hand sanitizer.
