Governor Wike bans EndSARS protests in Rivers state
Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike bans EndSARS protests in the state scheduled for today Tuesday 13 October
This news was announced in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications in the State
Governor Wike said this decision was based on the fact that the Special Anti-robbery Squad had already been scrapped by the Inspector General of police hence no need for any form of protest
The statement read:
The Rivers State Government hereby wishes to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State.
“Therefore, all proposed protests under #End SARS Campaign are hereby prohibited.“Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists.”
“The Governor, therefore, calls on parents and guardians to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order.
Wike warned that law enforcement agencies has been put in place to ensure that all violaters of this statement are brought to book
