INEC introduces election result viewing portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has introduced a new system that allows Nigerians view polling units results in real time.

The commission made the announcement of the new development in a recent press statement, issued by Mr Festus Okoye Esq National Commissioner, and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee.

To further strengthen the transparency in the election result management system, the commission has decided to introduce a dedicated public portal, IReV that will enable Nigerians to view polling unit results in real-time as the voting ends on election day.

Mr Okoye disclosed that this innovation will start from the Nasarawa Central State Constituency by-election scheduled for 8th August 2020

He further emphasized that IReV does not constitute electronic collation of results as this will continue to be done manually as provided for by the law

The commission hopes that this will strengthen the voter’s confidence in the electoral process and improve transparency in election result management.
