Lagos negotiates as SSANU NASU shut down LASU
The Members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities(SSANU) and those of the Non-Academic Staff Union(NASU) on Monday shut down the main campus of the Lagos State University, LASU, Following the inability of the Lagos State government to pay them the N30,000 monthly minimum wage.
Students in 300 and 400 levels were to resume Monday, with other members of staff that had been on lockdown as a result of ravaging COVID-19 pandemic
However that movement was averted by SSANU and NASU over non payment of wages.
All pleas by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, to the workers were not heeded.
The workers were persistent and said they would not allow entry into the campus unless they extract a definite commitment from the state government on when the payment of the new rate would be effected.
The state government is in brief with the unions., Stay tuned….
