Man United were at the end of a humiliating 6-1 result at Old Trafford against Tottenham Hotspur as Tottenham secured a famous victory away to 10-man Manchester United on sunday.

Things appeared to be going well after the kickoff whistle for United as they were awarded a penalty after 23 seconds after a foul on Anthony Martial by Davidson Sanchez which Bruno Fernandes converted.

However, Tottenham soon equalised courtesy of Tunguy Ndombele after a shabby piece of defending from English Internationals Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw.

Anthony Martial was also sent off at the 28-minute after aggressive behaviour towards Erik lamela of Tottenham.

Son went on to score two goal before the half time break, one coming three minutes after Tunguy Ndombele’s leveller and the second on the stroke of half time.

England international and prolific goal-scorer Harry Kane also put one past David De Gea before the 45-minute break and Tottenham went in for the halftime break with a 4-1 lead over their opponents.

During the second half, Tottenham’s Serge Aurier also got himself on the scoresheet and Harry Kane scored a penalty after Paul Pogba brought down Ben Davies in the United 18 yard box to make the final score 6-1.

This would make it the second consecutive loss for Manchester United at old Trafford this season after losing after losing to Crystal Palace at Match week 1.

Speaking after the match Jose Mourinho said:

Manchester United doesn’t lose many matches, to lose by six is of course not every day. Historical victory but in the end three points and three very important points because we lost five points at home.

Jose Mourinho

He continued:

We prepared ourselves very well tactically and also psychologically, the team was ready. So ready that a penalty in the first minute and going 1-0 down did not affect the team at all.

Some people can say you play against 10 men for a long time which is true but for me it is also true that 11 v 11 we were playing extremely well, we were creating huge problems, we were winning 2-1 and they could not find solutions to control us.
