Npower beneficiaries complain over stipends payment which has been delayed by the federal government for two months which has stirred up a lot of controversy
The NPower stipend is usually a token of N30, 000 (77.54743 USD) and beneficiaries have not received their June and July NPower stipend from the empowerment scheme.
News reaching 9jatalkative News is that the genuine beneficiaries of the scheme last received a stipend for the month of May, which was paid on the 1st of June 2020 upwards.
At the time, it was the first time since Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs took over the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) reigns that stipends will be paid on time under her regime
The minister, Sadiya Farouq has been mute regarding when June and July stipends of the exited NPower beneficiaries will be settled.
Over the time that scheme was moved to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development from the office of the Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in October last year, complaints of recurrent delay in stipends payment have been registered.
Recall that Nigeria Federal workers usually receive their salaries between the 25th and 30th of each month since the current government took over in 2015.
Recall that the scheme is known as one of the largest post-tertiary employment programmes in Africa, the Muhammadu Buhari government sees the scheme as one of its major achievements.
