Professor Folasade Ogunsola appointed UNILAG acting VC after she is voted by the senate members of the university of Lagos
The senate members of the University of Lagos, UNILAG have on Monday elected Professor Folasade Ogunsola as the acting Vice-Chancellor, VC of the school.
Two Deputy Vice-Chancellors, one from Development Services and the other from Management Services, went for the position.
But out of the 167 senate members who voted at the exercise, 135 voted for DVC Development Services while DVC Management Services got 31 votes, one voided vote was recorded.
Professor Folasade Ogunsola was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services at the UNILAG before her emergence.
She secured 135 of 167 votes and the chairman of the Senate Emergency Committee, Prof. Chioma Agomo announced the result to journalists after the election.
Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola was born in 1958 and She is a professor of medical microbiology who specializes in disease control, particularly HIV/AIDS.
She is also the principal investigator at AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN) at the University of Lagos and has been the chairman of the Infection Control Committee of Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
Professor Ogunsola is now expected to act as the new acting VC until the outcome of the Special Visitation Panel set up by the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
