Rivers State reopens markets and sports centers
Rivers State reopens markets and sports center as disclosed in a recent state-wide broadcast by Governor Nyesom Wike.
In his statement, Governor Wike announced the reopening of all markets in the state starting from Tuesday August 18, 2020 with the exceptions of Rumukwurushi(Oilmill) and Oginiba(slaughter) markets as they remain closed.
The ban on outdoor sports activities at the Portharcout club, Golf club and Portharcout Polo club was also lifted while worship centers were to maintain the stated protocols of wearing nose masks and holding services with only 50 percent of their hall capacities.
Night clubs, bars, cinemas are to remain closed until further notice.
The Governor announced:
Any market that opens to the public and fails to comply strictly with protocols shall be closed down. The market managers shall be prosecuted, while the contravening shops shall be forfeited to the state government without notice.
Similarly, all members of these sports club must adhere to the established Covid-19 protocols or risk another closure
