
Wizkid goes home with BET Soul Train award
Nigerian superstar, artist and songwriter Ayodeji Balogun, also popularly known as Wizkid has made history again by becoming the first Nigerian Musician to win the BET soul train award for the second time.
The artist shared the award for his collaboration with Beyoncé, Blue Ivy and Saint JHN on the song ‘Brown skin Girl’.
The song received positive receptions from several critics such as Mani Bashir of Teen Vogue who described the song as a “celebration of dark-skinned women while Amanda Mitchell at O, The Oprah Magazine showered praise on the song for being “unapologetically and fearlessly Black”
Besides this recent accolade, the song has also won the NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration, 2020 and BET HER Award 2020 also adding to the success of the song.
The news of Wizkid’s victory broke on the internet after @Soultrain took to their Twitter account to announce the winner of the award.
The awarding event which occurred on Sunday whereby the American singer and songwriter Chris Brown went away with four awards including Best collaboration and Song of the year awards
